The H.O.P.E. (Human Rights, Optimism, Pride and Experience) project is inspired and sponsored by Brownie Points. Brownie Points is an organisation that empowers and celebrates good deeds. Their vision is a social economy that unlocks the value of volunteering and other pro-social activities, so that anyone can follow their passion and make a difference, no matter their situation or background. Brownie Points wants to encourage and facilitate volunteerism and donation amongst South Africans, help non-profit organisations set and reach goals for external support to improve and scale their impact, promote innovation-driven philanthropy and use online technologies to make a big difference.
H.O.P.E. focused on bringing a gamified experience to the user. Users will be allowed to sign up for, create and share events to earn Experience Points. With Experience Points, users can earn badges, level up for even more rewards and claim Brownie Points. Once a user has accumulated enough Experience Points, they are able to redeem Brownie Points. This allows users to redeem gifts such as a cup of coffee or a sandwich with partners or donate money to a charity of their choice. Users will also have access to a dashboard that will display the causes they have participated in and the number of hours spent volunteering. They will also be able to track the number of volunteers in causes they have created and how many times the cause has been shared.
The aim of the gamified experience is to get more people involved with giving back to the community.
