Physio911 is a physiotherapy practice in Durban, run by Khetan Ramkisson since 2011, and it still depends largely on paper and manual processes. Patients book by phone and have nowhere to turn after hours. Therapists handwrite notes between sessions, which takes time away from care and risks lost records. Front-desk staff coordinate bookings, courtesy transport and attendance by hand. The owner must translate treatment shorthand into medical aid codes in separate billing software, which means double capturing and rejected claims. Paper files also create storage problems and put patient privacy at risk under POPIA. Commercial practice software does not fit the practice’s particular needs, such as clinical documentation, patient transport and safety during home visits.
To address this, we built Physio911, an integrated web and mobile system with a tailored interface for each role. Patients can book and manage appointments, assess their symptoms, watch rehab videos, make payments and request transport. Therapists can manage their schedules, complete assessments, annotate body charts, dictate notes and generate structured reports. Practice owners and front-desk staff can approve appointments, manage patients and staff, coordinate transport, handle billing and claims, and view operational dashboards.
The system is a single TypeScript codebase: React and Next.js for the web app, and React Native with Expo for mobile. Both connect to a shared backend that provides secure data storage, authentication and custom functions. Role-based access, encryption and audit controls protect patient data, and integrations provide AI-assisted notes and billing codes, notifications and payments.
This implementation shows that the practice’s main workflows can be brought together in one scalable platform. It reduces repeated work, improves access to information and gives the owner clearer insight into operations. The remaining steps are setup for live use, security checks and formal user testing before launch.
