MenoScreen by Mandi is a clinical decision-support tool that helps nurses and GPs recognise menopause symptoms during short South African primary care consultations. Many women go without timely diagnosis because symptoms such as brain fog, low mood and poor sleep are rarely raised, and clinicians often have limited time and menopause training. Existing validated tools are either too brief to assess severity, such as the MQ6, or too long and research-focused for the point of care.
We designed a 23-question screening framework adapted from the MQ6, the Greene Climacteric Scale, Dr Louise Newson’s 2025 questionnaire and ZOE’s MenoScale. Built in FlutterFlow with Firebase, the prototype guides a clinician through patient consent, language selection and the questionnaire. A rule-based engine converts the answers into a MenoLikelihood score out of 100, places it in one of four triage bands, and applies a safety override that flags complex cases for specialist referral before any treatment is discussed. The tool produces a clinician summary and a patient handout in English, Afrikaans, isiZulu and isiXhosa, while an administrator console manages users and questions.
The prototype shows that a validated framework can become a fast, transparent and multilingual screening workflow. Clinical content, scoring thresholds and translations still require review by a medical team before any patient testing.
