About

Abstract

In the realm of vehicle-related crime investigations, investigators face a growing challenge: vast amounts of GPS and digital data are collected daily, yet transforming this information into coherent, court-ready reports remains a time-consuming and error-prone process. Traditional methods rely heavily on manual report writing, fragmented data tools, and disconnected workflows - slowing investigations and risking the clarity of digital evidence.

TrackX reimagines this process from the ground up. Built for Advanced Digital Forensics (ADF), TrackX is a forensic intelligence system that automates and enhances every stage of the investigative reporting process. From data upload to final report generation, TrackX assists investigators in creating, writing, structuring, and analyzing cases with precision and speed. Its integrated artificial intelligence engine helps identify key insights, generate narrative summaries, and ensure consistency across investigative documentation.

Investigators can step into a world where data comes alive - visualizing GPS coordinates, routes, and movement patterns through interactive 2D and 3D simulations powered by CesiumJS and Google Street 3D Tiling. The platform’s heatmaps and reconstructed vehicle paths reveal hidden patterns, connections, and anomalies that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Beyond visualization, TrackX introduces a new era of collaborative case management. Investigators can securely create, organize, and share cases with authorized colleagues, track progress, and control access to sensitive data, all within a cloud-based ecosystem built on FastAPI, React, and Firebase.

By uniting AI-driven reporting, intelligent automation, and geospatial storytelling, TrackX bridges the gap between raw data and real-world justice. It empowers investigators to deliver faster, clearer, and more credible results, redefining how digital forensics is practiced in South Africa and beyond.
