Abstract
Streets is a mobile and web-based platform designed to transform how tourists and locals discover, experience, and engage with local venues in Cape Town. The system bridges the gap between users seeking authentic experiences and venues striving for visibility in an over-commercialised tourism landscape.
Through the Streets mobile app, users can explore nearby venues and events, check in, post reviews, and earn XP through gamified engagement. This XP can be converted into points and redeemed for rewards offered by venues, fostering loyalty and repeat visits. Meanwhile, the Streets Venues web platform empowers local businesses to manage their profiles, create events, publish rewards, and track real-time analytics on user engagement and performance.
Streets encourages a dynamic, community-driven ecosystem- connecting people, places, and possibilities. By combining discovery, gamification, and business empowerment, Streets reimagines urban exploration as an interactive experience that benefits both users and local businesses.
