CLARITY - Confluence and Jira AI Resource and Insights Tool

The CLARITY project addresses the growing need at impact.com to streamline project management tasks in Jira and Confluence. Current workflows for meeting transcription, ticket generation, and bug triaging are manual, time-consuming, and prone to inconsistency. The business requirement is to reduce administrative overhead, improve traceability and provide stakeholders with accessible, real-time insights into project progress.

Our proposed solution is CLARITY, an AI Enhanced plugin that works with Jira and Confluence. The solution uses OpenAI APIs for transcription and summarisation, as well as REST API  interfaces to automate ticket generation, bug triage and dashboard reporting. A conversational chatbot enables easy access to project data, minimising the need for manual queries and reducing management effort by 40%.

The browser based system integrates APS through a modular architecture ensuring, maintainability, scalability and compliance with POPIA. Key integrations include the OpenAI API for natural language processing and the Atlassian APIs for ticket and document management.

Key features of CLARITY span the full project lifecycle. Automated meeting summaries capture and condense discussions, linking key decisions and action items directly into Jira and Confluence. AI-assisted ticket generation reduces manual entry by transforming meeting outputs into structured tasks that can be reviewed and assigned with minimal effort. Intelligent bug triaging uses machine learning to prioritise and categorise issues, accelerating resolution and improving quality assurance. An interactive chatbot enables natural language queries for quick access to project data. Together, these features deliver a streamlined, intelligent and user-friendly approach to project management.

Our findings confirm that CLARITY has progressed from concept to an operational prototype. Early sprints established secure integrations and functional modules for transcription, summarisation and bug triaging. By combining technical robustness with user-centred design, CLARITY demonstrates both academic and business value, providing a scalable proof-of-concept that meets sponsor needs while advancing the team’s applied learning objectives.
