Project Background
The current IT Showcase site was a developed in 2020. As a response to try and still have the showcase around the same time it happens each year, the IT Showcase website was created with more attention on the build and functionality, and less on ensuring that a satisfactory user interface and user experience are maintained. The School of IT has now requested that a team of third year Information Systems students (team 11) come up with a new website; an opportunity to alleviate the prior mentioned problems. Overall, the project’s objectives are centred around creating a website that has a better UI and UX than the existing one.
Business Background
Students in the Information Systems and Computer Science department make use of the IT Showcase website to showcase their year projects. The current one in use emerged as a project aimed at addressing the issue of not being able to host a face-to-face IT showcase anymore. This issue is a result of COVID-19 restrictions which did not allow for the facilitation of a face-to-face showcase in the year 2020. The IT showcase is a big event where potential sponsors come to view the projects of students in the aforementioned departments, hence it has become increasingly important that the website gives somewhat a more realistic feel of what the face-to-face showcase would have been.
The team has attempted to address the problems through the means of the project.
