When the Covid-19 pandemic hit South Africa, a large strain was placed on health care systems and healthcare workers. Hospitals were at capacity with an exuberant number of patients. Additionally, some primary healthcare workers have decided to leave their jobs to protect their family's wellbeing from the virus. Thus, hospitals were at full capacity while being understaffed. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, most health care services in South Africa required patients to physically go to the nearest clinic or hospital because of the lack of online health care related services. Furthermore, even though the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the South African healthcare system's issues, it has struggled to branch out into new opportunities. Thus, considering the factors above and the high employment rate, our team felt an online gig platform could fill this gap. The NOOSi platform is an online mobile application that allows potential clients or patients to connect themselves to nurses that are offering a service they require. Thus, allowing the team to help increase the availability and accessibility of home-based health care services in South Africa. The basic design of the mobile application enabled a client or patient to select the service and procedure they require as well as their preferred date and time when scheduling an appointment. After that, the application would provide a list of nurses that offer the service required and are available at the selected date and time. Once complete, the nurse receives a request to accept or decline the appointment.
