Abstract
Zilch aims to provide a more affordable alternative to the conventional system of requiring high upfront deposits from tenants for the leasing of residential properties, whilst at the same time affording peace of mind to landlords by standing surety to lease agreements, as well as increasing the demand for rental properties; a benefit to both landlords and property rental agents. We, the SAJE-Tech Team, have developed and built a cross-platform (iOS and Android) mobile app for Zilch using Flutter and Cloud Firestore. Android Studio was used as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to develop, build and test the mobile app. The aim of the mobile app is to grow Zilch’s userbase—by leveraging the high level of mobile penetration (particularly in the South African context)—and complement the existing website.
